TOMS Web and Mobile Gift Guides

With a clean and user-friendly layout, we could quickly navigate TOMS customers to gifts they were interested in; maximizing on holiday purchases ensued.

TOMS is a lifestyle brand selling a variety of products such as shoes, sunglasses, bags, and more, with its mission: “With every product you purchase, TOMS will help a person in need”. TOMS US and the Netherlands branches were looking to scale their websites to get potential customers in the gift-buying mood around holiday 2012. The primary goal was to point TOMS customers to the gifts they were looking for with the fewest number of clicks.

What role did I play in this? UX, UI, design

Despite the developer limitations we had to work with, I was able to push for a secondary navigation under the hero banners; this created a separation from the site’s primary navigation and gave the gift guide its own space within the vast expanses of the TOMS site. Each of these categories in the navigation inherited its own bright and cheery color scheme.

As the screen size reduces to mobile, the secondary navigation becomes a dropdown; this allowed us to keep it positioned underneath the hero banners and give the gift guide its own space, but also optimize the majority of the real estate for the products themselves.
